Message from the “Editor” Special blessings to all alumnae, their families, and friends throughout this holiday season and into the New Year. As 2009 draws to a close, we need to take time out to reflect on the time that has passed, the challenges that we faced, the achievements that were accomplished, and all other significant events that impacted our lives. The lessons learned from our experiences should be carried forward into 2010, leaving unneeded baggage behind, so that we can continue to grow and develop and become better people. Remember that, as always, this mailing list continues to grow and be updated, so forward the bulletin to your friends who may not be getting these regular updates, and encourage them to join the mailing list. All we need is your name (current and maiden), year of graduation, and e-mail address to start you off. Additional details can be provided later on. News from the Alumnae Chapter Local (Jamaica) Chapter We were happy to see those who attended the Feast Day Mass and the Lecture Series, and we look forward to continued support into 2010, especially for our Big Sister Programme, which will continue in January. New York Chapter Our Twenty Fourth Anniversary Dinner Dance took place on Saturday, December 5, 2009. If you weren't there, you missed a really wonderful evening. On behalf of the executive committee, many thanks to all of you all over the USA supported the fundraiser. 2010 marks the 25th Anniversary for the New York Chapter. Planning for the year’s activities are underway. If you haven’t been active in the association, we could really use your input now! Florida Chapter Our President hosted our Christmas Potluck Social on Saturday December 5, 2009. The food was delicious and the Yankee gift exchange provided many hilarious moments. We all had an enjoyable time and thank our hostess and food donors for the wonderful time and a great start for celebrating the holiday season! The ICHSAA Florida Chapter Student Scholarship Fund was launched to assist ICHS students recommended by Sister Angella Harris, OSF and the School Administration for assistance with basic needs associated with attending ICHS. Scholarship funds have been earmarked to cover specific student expenses such as school fees, uniforms, regulation school shoes, school tie and pin, school stationery and the cost of lunch. In 2009, the Florida Chapter provided 10 ICHS students with scholarships for the 2009-2010 school year from the funds raised from the Summer Bash. We will celebrate the Florida Chapter’s 20th Anniversary on June 12, 2010 with a Dinner Dance at Miramar Cultural Center. Please save this date. Jennifer Hoyes, Claire Williams and Donna Hoo are Co-Chairs for this event. They need volunteers so please email ICHSflalum@aol.com to participate on a Committee. This festive occasion is ideal for reuniting with your classmates in beautiful South Florida. To reserve your class tables at this event, please contact Brenda Leighton for table reservations and any class table questions. Please send emails to Brenda at ICHSflalum@aol.com. Washington DC Area Chapter There is no report from the DC Area Chapter this month, but you are welcome to visit the website at: http://www.ichsaa-dc-area.com for updates on events in that area. ICHS European Alumnae Friendship Chapter On October 31, 2009 the ICHS Europe Alumnae met in London for a get-together. With our special chapter encompassing so many varied countries we were pleased to have attendees from London and as far away as Denmark, Netherlands, France, Switzerland and also outside of London such as Manchester and Somerset. It was such a wonderful feeling of sisterhood. From the first meeting everyone from graduation year 1962 to 1992 had an instant and remarkable rapport together. The camraderie was felt within the hearts of everyone. We shared memories of an Alma Mater that has been the cornerstone of our development. We committed to giving back to the place that holds a special place in our hearts and also to share this special moment on an annual basis. We of the Europe Alumnae would like to wish our ICHS sisters around the world a Blessed Christmas Season and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Midwest/Southwest/Texas Chapter?? Interest has been expressed in establishing new chapters for the Midwest and Southwest US states, and Texas in particular.
