Greetings Fellow Alumna,

The ICHS Alumnae Association 20th Anniversary Dinner Dance celebration was a wonderful evening and a successful fundraising event for the Florida chapter. The theme of the event - “Sisterhood, Education and Service” was highlighted by the enthusiastic spirit of the Mistress of Ceremony, alumna Bridgette Deans Waldemar, and the evening’s exciting speakers. The school’s principal, Sr. Angella Harris, OSF was honored as well as the past principal, Sr. Maureen Clare Hall, OSF. Sr. Angella the keynote speaker, shared the outstanding accomplishments of today’s ICHS students and provided insight into the challenges faced by the students attending the school, especially the financial struggles. To demonstrate our commitment to supporting the students, the Florida Chapter presented Sr. Angella with a check for scholarships for the 2010 – 2011 school year. The funding for scholarships was increased over last year’s contribution, due to the increase in cost for providing the basic needs.

After a delicious dinner and delightful live entertainment, speakers and presentations, Sr. Angella and Sr. Maureen Clare drew the Grand raffle prizes. The First Prize winner Everard Lee, won an all inclusive vacation at Iberostar Resort, Rose Hall and 2 round trip tickets on Air Jamaica, the second prize winner Ian Smith, won a Weekend Getaway of 2 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn with breakfast and a luxurious Spa Basket. The winners of the Silent Auction were then announced. The Silent Auction was most enthusiastically received, it show cased paintings by renowned Jamaican artist and ICHS parent Paul Blackwood, and outstanding artist Alphanso Blake. Also included in the silent auction was an outfit from alumna, designer Jackie Domville Chaleff of SeaSuns clothing. With the formal program coming to a close Sr. Maureen Clare played the piano and led the attendees in the School Song. A full house of alumnae and friends, who traveled from many locations to be there, then got on the dance floor and danced to the music of DJ Radcliffe who rocked the house until the early morning. Your presence, your contribution and support of ICHS is greatly appreciated. Your generosity expresses your understanding that education is the foundation for a better life.

Thank you on behalf of the students at ICHS who will benefit from your contribution. After all expenses are paid for the Dinner Dance, 100% of the balance will be used to fund scholarships at ICHS.

A special thank you to all our sponsors, especially, Iberostar Hotel & Resorts, Air Jamaica, Hilton Garden Inn, Jamaica Tourist Board, Grace Foods USA Inc., Grace, Western Union Remittances Services and South Florida Auto Auction.

With much gratitude and sincere appreciation, Jennifer Hoyes
President
